NRL outcast John Asiata has been thrown a rugby league lifeline, signing a deal with English second-tier club Leigh Centurions.
Asiata last week parted ways with the Bulldogs after refusing to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
Wide World of Sports revealed earlier this week that Asiata’s stance is due to a reaction to a routine vaccination suffered by one of his children.

“I just want to say how grateful I am for the opportunity,” he said after signing with Leigh.
“It’s been a long and tough couple of months but I’m excited for this next challenge and the journey ahead with my family and to be part of this proud club.
“To the fans and the sponsors, my message is ‘Be excited!’ 2022 is going to be a great year!
“I know that the boys are going to be giving it their all and are working hard in training to be the best they can be, to make sure we can put in the performances week in and week out.
“I’m excited to be able to put on the jersey, to represent you all and run out to a loud, cheering crowd.”
The 28-year-old made his debut for the Cowboys in 2014, and played in the club’s 2015 grand final win over the Broncos.
He moved to Brisbane for 2021, and had signed a deal with the Bulldogs for 2022, but was not sighted at training due to the stand-off over his vaccination status.
