Collingwood have committed to sticking by Jordan De Goey after his New York court case was adjourned to the new year, revealing he would continue to be paid in full and receive welfare support despite still being stood down.
De Goey, who’s pleading not guilty to assault charges, attended his court hearing via a video link from Melbourne Magistrates Court about 6am (AEDT) today, dressed in a tie, white collared shirt and black jacket.
Judge John Zhuo Wang determined that De Goey would return to court for a motion schedule on January 4, which he will be able to attend remotely, before learning his fate on January 18.

The superstar forward was represented by lawyer Jacob Kaplan during today’s court case.
One of the criminal charges laid against De Goey – forcible touching – was dropped by New York prosecutors in November, but the 25-year-old is still facing charges of assault over an alleged October incident.
The charge arose following an alleged incident at a Manhattan nightclub during a night out in October, after which De Goey and friend Luke Dyson were arrested.
“Collingwood continue to assess the course of the case against Jordan and await meaningful developments that will allow for a more complete review of the facts,” a Collingwood statement said.
“Until that time Jordan will remain stood down.
“Collingwood officials met with Jordan earlier this week and he will continue to be paid in full while stood down and receive welfare support services through the club.”
