Australian cricket coach Justin Langer couldn’t hide his disappointment at Cricket Australia’s announcement that the fifth and final Ashes Test will not be played in Western Australia.
Originally from Perth, Langer said he understood why the decision was made but was saddened he would not have the opportunity to see his family.
“From a personal point of view, I left (Western Australia) at the end of September and I won’t see my family until February, so that’s tough going, not to be in Perth,” he told 2GB’s WWOS Radio.

“But look, we also understand the complexities of everything that’s going on in the world we’re in, different border restrictions, et cetera.
“So it is what it is, and now we just have to get on and win the last Test wherever it ends up being played.”
Hobart’s Bellerive Oval is now the favourite to be named as the new venue for the fifth Test.
