Supercars young gun Will Brown produced a scorching lap in Qualifying to grab pole for the Top-10 Shootout at the Bathurst 1000.
The 23-year-old from Erebus Motorsport, competing at the Bathurst 1000 for the first time, posted a lap of 2:03.898.
A driver at the other end of his career – the legendary Jamie Whincup – sensationally missed out on the top 10, finishing 11th.

Tim Slade set a brilliant time late in the session to grab fourth spot and knock Whincup out of the top 10.
Brown was so caught up in celebrating his magnificent run that he likely missed the drama surrounding Whincup.

“I grew some balls out there and had a dip!” Brown said on the Fox Sports broadcast.
“That was bloody awesome. How good was that!
“To do a 2:03 around here … I didn’t care if I got pole or not – that’s a pretty wicked time. I am just pumped.”
Supercars great Mark Scaife was stunned.
“Absolutely exceptional!” Scaife said on the Fox Sports broadcast.
“Brilliant job.”
Scaife had put into perspective ahead of Qualifying just how important pole was.
“It’s massive, it’s massive,” Scaife said on the Fox Sports coverage.
“It intimidates everybody.
“If you’re the fastest this afternoon you walk out of this joint with a spring in your step and you walk into tomorrow with a very, very big smile on your face.”
