Kylie Hilder has stepped down from her role as NSW women’s coach after four years in charge at State of Origin level.
Since taking over the position in 2021, Hilder had overseen a major growth in the women’s game and led the Sky Blues to a series win in 2022.
However, after two-straight defeats at the hands of Queensland, the coach admitted it was time to move in a new direction.

”I felt it was time for a change for the team, but I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and privilege of coaching the NSW women’s Origin team,” Hilder said.
“I take a lot of pride in the contribution I have been able to make in that short time.
“To see women’s Origin grow from one game when I started coaching to a three-game series this year is a monumental achievement for the game and speaks volumes about the incredible talent pool in the women’s ranks.
“It also says a lot about the work that is being done at NSWRL in our pathways programs to develop genuine player depth at all levels, preparing them for NRLW and Origin.”
The 48-year-old is a true pioneer of women’s rugby league, representing both NSW and Australia during her playing career before moving into coaching.
NSWRL chief executive Dave Trodden paid tribute to the departing coach.
”History will recognise the pivotal contribution which Kylie has made to our game as a player, coach and pathways administrator at one of the most important times in the development of the women’s game,” he said.
“Our organisation owes her a great debt and her contribution will continue to deliver benefits to the game in her role as female pathways manager.”
Expressions of interest are now open for women’s coaching position, with the men’s spot also up for grabs heading into next year’s series following Michael Maguire‘s exit.
