The fathers of George Kambosos and Teofimo Lopez have clashed ahead of the biggest bout on the Australian fight calendar this year.
Teofimo Lopez Sr. and George Kambosos Sr. had to be separated during a media workout in New York City this morning (AEDT), ahead of their sons’ lightweight championship clash on Sunday (AEDT) at Madison Square Garden.

On a video uploaded to social media, Lopez’s dad was seen swearing and threatening Kambosos and his father, before walking over to Kambosos Sr. The two engaged in a brief shove before they were separated by security.
“Kambosos, you’re gonna get your ass kicked,” Teofimo Sr. screamed when he entered the gym as Kambosos was being interviewed. “First round baby,” he continued.
“F— off, motherf—–. C’mon you big mouth. Come over here,” George Sr. shouted as Teofimo Sr. went on predicting his son would win in the first round. “You wanna walk across this f—-in’ line? Alright. I’m gonna f— you up first.”
Lopez’s father then turned his attention to Kambosos who was standing in the ring, staring down his rival’s father.
Lopez Sr fired: “F— you, motherf—–. F— you and your coach, you f—in’ pussies. You got an MMA coach. You got an MMA coach, b—h.
“F— you, b—h, First round knockout, b—h. What are you gonna do when my son whips you down?”
The fight will be Lopez’s second defence of his IBF lightweight title and the first as lineal/WBA/WBO champion.
The fight has been rescheduled at least six times since it was first mandated earlier this year.
