Glover Teixeira has finally climbed to the top of the mountain in the UFC, defeating Jan Blachowicz to become the light heavyweight champion.
The Pole was a short-priced favourite to defend his crown, but was stunned in the second round via submission at the event in Abu Dhabi.
At 42, Teixeira became the second-oldest man to ever claim a UFC title, after Randy Couture, who beat Tim Sylvia for the heavyweight belt in 2007, aged 43.
Earlier, New Zealand’s Dan Hooker, fighting for the second time in a month, came up short against Russian Islam Makhachev, who submitted him in the first round.
