Pakistan cricket legend Inzamam-ul-Huq is recovering in hospital after suffering a heart attack in Lahore.
ESPN reports the 51-year-old had been complaining of chest pains for three days before tests revealed he had suffered the cardiac arrest, and was rushed to hospital.
He underwent an angioplasty overnight and is currently “stable” according to his agent.
Inzamam is considered the country’s greatest ever batter, and announced himself on the world stage during Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup victory.
He is Pakistan’s greatest ever ODI run-scorer with 11701 in 375 matches, and their third-highest all-time scorer in Tests with 8829 runs in 119 matches. He was also one of their most successful captains.
He retired from playing in 2007 but has since worked as the national team’s batting consultant and then chief selector, and he has also coached Afghanistan’s national team.
