Manly fullback Tom Trbojevic had a few stern words for his brother Jake on Friday night during their finals clash against the Sydney Roosters.
In the first half Jake Trbojevic appeared to cost his side valuable metres up the middle and possibly a try as the Blues fullback attempted to sprint off for a quick 20-metre restart with the Roosters on their heels.
The Roosters had gifted Manly a seven-tackle set with an easy catch in the in-goal area for Tom. The Sea Eagles’ no.1 attempted to race off from the restart before spreading it wide for winger Reuben Garrick in a play that seemed destined to press into Roosters’ territory.
But before Garrick could make the break, NRL referee Gerard Sutton called for the restart to come back because Jake was off-side and not in position for the quick tap.
“Jake was waddling back on-side,” Andrew Johns said in commentary for Nine.
“Tom is letting his brother know.
“They’re into each other… ‘You’re going to do the dishes this week’. That was a big play.
Phil Gould added: “That is a try under the posts gone begging.”
“Jake is up there saying, ‘Listen mate I’ve just done 45 tackles’.
“He’s nowhere near the play.
“He was waddling.”
