The most bitter rivalry in the NRL has taken another twist with a promising player jumping ship mid-season.
Daniel Suluka-Fifita has been granted an immediate release from his Roosters contract to join the old enemy South Sydney.
The 22-year-old prop had already signed a three-year deal to join the Rabbitohs from 2023, but will instead be available for selection as early as this week’s game against Newcastle on Friday.

Suluka-Fifita was a Rabbitohs junior and represented the club from 2014 to 2017, before heading up the road to Bondi to wear the tricolours.
He made his NRL debut in 2020 but has only played 20 games in the top grade, struggling to crack the Roosters’ best 17.
The Rabbitohs and Roosters boast the oldest rivalry in rugby league and Suluka-Fifita is just the latest in a long list of players who have worn both club’s colours.

Most recently there was a battle over teenage talent Joseph Suaalii.
Before that it was Latrell Mitchell leaving the Chooks to join South Sydney, and Angus Crichton jumping the other way.
