A world title fight between Tim Tszyu and Jermell Charlo has officially been locked in, with the Australian to get a crack at the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO super-welterweight titles.
The confirmed fight was revealed by WBA president Paco Valcarcel on ESPN KNOCKOUT. While the fight itself is locked in, a venue and a date are still to be determined.
Charlo (35-1-1, 19 KOs) retained his titles against Brian Castano last month in California, with Tszyu watching on ringside.

Following his win, the American began slinging insults at Tszyu in his post-fight press conference, mocking the Aussie’s name and calling him “Tim Too” and “Tim Kazoo”.
Tszyu (21-0, 15 KOs) was named the mandatory challenger to Castano’s WBO belt last August, but was forced to wait until after a rematch between Castano and Charlo given the pair’s first encounter was a draw.
The 27-year-old Australian last fought in March where he defeated America’s Terrell Gausha via unanimous decision in Minnesota. That was Tszyu’s first fight outside of both Australia and New Zealand.
It remains to be seen when exactly the fight takes place, with a time period between October and December currently mooted.
Boxing’s calendar is currently stacked over the next few months, with Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin‘s trilogy bout on deck as well as a potential blockbuster between Errol Spence Jr and Terence Crawford.
