US boxing star Devin Haney has claimed that he is “levels above” Australia’s George Kambosos Jr ahead of a blockbuster bout between the two in Melbourne on Sunday.
Haney (27-0-0, 15 KO) will step into the ring against Kambosos Jr (20-0-0, 10 KO) at Marvel Stadium, with a crowd in excess of 40,000 expected.
The 23-year-old is the bookmakers’ favourite coming into the fight, with SportsBet paying $1.66 for a Haney win compared to $2.35, and the American believes the odds are justified.

“I’m the far better fighter,” he said.
“I have far more skills than him and I will show it on Sunday, it’s for me to show in the ring.
“The betting odds really don’t matter because I will show you. No matter what the people say, anybody can show anything, but I’m levels above him.”
Haney also offered a response after being branded a “snitch”, “rat”, and “informant” by the Australian in the lead-up to the fight.
“Coming in, I knew that he was going to try and do anything that he can to throw me off my game and get me unfocused,” he said.
“He can say what he wants to say, I’m going to do what I’m going to do regardless when we step into that ring and I will come out victorious by any means.”
However, Kambosos Jr showed that he is more than comfortable being the underdog going into Sunday’s blockbuster.
“It has been a long, hard journey, but I’m ready for Sunday,” he said.
“I will shock the world again. Underdog? Beautiful. I’ve been through it all, so whatever comes to the table on Sunday, we are ready, we are fully prepared and we are warriors.”
Kambosos wasn’t sure whether his trash talking had done anything to actually unnerve Haney.
“I’m just having fun. I’m enjoying the moment, just talking the truth. If it has or it hasn’t, so be it,” he said.
“Victory by any means. I’ve manifested everything, every part of this journey. They said we would never be here, but only two people really believed it – me and my father.
“I love the underdog status. They’ve been against me my whole career. I’m still the top dog and after Sunday I’ll remain the top dog.”
