Blues coach Brad Fittler has been hit with another injury blow with Knights prop Daniel Saifiti going down with a knee injury in Newcastle’s 24-16 win over the Warriors.
Saifiti was forced out early in the first half and didn’t return, with Knights coaching Adam O’Brien confirming initial signs suggested he had suffered an MCL injury.
“He’s in a leg brace at the moment. I think they’re thinking MCL… I won’t know until he does his scan,” O’Brien said.

“For him to come off and then not return, is not good signs for us.”
Saifiti played in games one and two of the Origin series last year before a rib injury ruled him out for the finale.
He’s featured for the Blues on seven occasions since debuting at Origin level in 2019.
Saifiti’s injury adds to a growing list of injury woes facing Fittler’s Blues.
Fittler, who will name his game one squad on Sunday evening, is already looking for two new centres after Latrell Mitchell was ruled out with a hamstring injury and reigning Dally M Medal winner Tom Trbojevic succumbed to a shoulder setback.
The Blues will also be without veteran Dale Finucane, who remains sidelined with a knee injury.
Game one of the Origin series will be played on June 8.
