Rugby League great Brad Fittler has named back-rower Kurt Capewell as the man to reverse Brisbane‘s declining fortunes, ahead of the club’s round five match against the Roosters.
The Broncos were ordinary in their 20-6 loss to the Warriors last week, their second straight defeat.
The week has been overshadowed by the emergence of a video of an altercation between Payne Haas and Albert Kelly, which is likely to result in the pair being suspended.

The Roosters are coming off a comprehensive win over the Cowboys, who themselves had thrashed Brisbane the previous week.
All that points towards more pain for the Broncos, but speaking on Wide World of Sports’ Freddy & Joey’s Tips, Fittler said Capewell could well be the spark Brisbane needs.

“Broncos were a bit erratic, (but) Kurt Capewell comes back,” he noted.
“When you listened to a lot of the players interviewed after the game, they all spoke about him.

“The coach spoke about him, so maybe he’s someone that’s pretty vital to the team.”
Capewell was one of the stars for Brisbane in their season-opening upset 11-4 win over Souths. Elevated to the captaincy in the absence of Adam Reynolds, he capped an outstanding performance with the match-sealing field goal in his first appearance for the club.
Speaking after that round one victory, Brisbane coach Kevin Walters was full of praise for the Queensland Origin representative.
“It was a tough, gritty game and we haven’t played that way for a long time and that’s what Kurt [Capewell] brings to the team, that grittiness, that drive, that hang in there. That was a typical game that Kurt shines in,” he said.
