Finnish freestyle skier Jon Sallinen was involved in an ugly collision with a cameraman during today’s Freeski Halfpipe qualifying at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
The 21-year-old was in the middle of his run when he soared over the edge and made contact with the cameraman, who was placed at the lip of the halfpipe.

It appeared the cameraman might have been too close to the edge of the halfpipe.
Despite the collision, Sallinen continued on with his run but scored just 18.00 out of 100.
The Finnish freestyle skier did get another run, however, it wasn’t enough to advance to the next stage.
“I wasn’t even sure if I was gonna ski on my second run after my crash, I hope the cameraman is OK, I landed directly on him,” he said after the event.
The cameraman involved was able to resume his duties not long after the incident.
