The deal was announced on Nine’s TODAY show this morning, with Coulthard getting his first look at his turbo-charged Honda touring car at Sydney Motorsport Park.
The deal for Coulthard to compete in the Honda TCR machine is a one-off drive.
“David’s team is very professional and is the perfect way to sample what TCR is all about,” Coulthard said.
“I’ll be looking to get some tips from my old mate Tony D’Alberto and I’m excited to partner with him again. Although I lack experience racing a front wheel drive touring car compared to my rivals, it provides a new challenge for me.
“It’s great to be a part of the launch of the Stan Sport deal too. The more motorsport we have on our televisions is great news, so I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out over the next few years.”
ARG chief executive Matt Braid said the deal would take the sport to a “new level.”
“This partnership with Stan Sport comes at a time when they are growing rapidly and are becoming the destination for motorsport viewers in Australia,” Braid said.
“The combined audience reach, engagement and promotional opportunities across Stan Sport and the wider Nine business offers an unrivalled level of coverage our motorsport categories and events have never had before.”
Stan’s acting chief executive Martin Kugeler said the SpeedSeries was a “fantastic” addition to Stan’s growing motorsport lineup “and highlights our approach to bringing premium content to Stan Sport customers all year round.”
“This partnership will see the SpeedSeries become the cornerstone Australian motorsport content on Stan Sport, in addition to our recently secured international lineup including IndyCar, WEC, WRC and Formula E,” Kugeler said.
“The SpeedSeries is Aussie motor racing at its best, and we are thrilled to be partnering with ARG in an exciting new chapter.”
