Newcastle Knights co-captain Jayden Brailey is expected to miss a significant portion of this year’s NRL season after injuring his Achilles at a pre-season training session yesterday.
The Knights told Fox Sports they were awaiting scan results to confirm the full extent of the injury but they are confident that it is not season-ending.
News Corp earlier reported that Brailey suffered the injury in a non-impact drill.

If the scans reveal Brailey has torn his Achilles, the 25-year-old would require surgery, sidelining him for five to eight months.
This latest injury is a cruel blow for Brailey, who missed the majority of the 2020 season after rupturing his ACL.
Chris Randall seems the likely replacement for Brailey as the starting hooker although Kurt Mann is also a possibility.
