Kenyan runner Faith Kipyegon has sensationally been reinstated a silver medallist after having it stripped from her.
There was high drama following the women’s 5000m final on Tuesday morning when Kipyegon finished second but then was disqualified from the race.
She had been jostling with Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay during the run and officials deemed she didn’t give her rival sufficient room to make a pass at a crucial stage.

However in a stunning turn of events, Kipyegon appealed the decision and subsequently had her silver medal reinstated.
After the initial decision, Italy’s Nadia Battocletti was in tears after being upgraded from fourth to bronze.
Beatrice Chebet of Kenya won the race while Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands was promoted from bronze to silver.
Those results have now been reverted to the original finishing order, meaning Battocletti has to hand back the bronze.
Nine’s Tamsyn Manou was anticipating a successful protest from Kipyegon.
“I’m not sure this will stand because I think Kipyegon will try to put in a disqualification against the Ethiopian Tsegay, for the fact she encroached on her space,” Manou said.
“She didn’t give her enough room to go around her before she cut in. Kipyegon had the lead. So, I think we will watch this space, but Kipyegon has to run a 1500m tomorrow.”

Australia’s Rose Davies finished 11th but was knocked back to 12th after the Kipyegon appeal.
“I’m really happy. Like I said in the heats my goal was just to make the final. I did that,” Davies told Nine after the race.
“I wanted to give it everything I could. I think I did that. So, I can walk away proud of myself and I’m happy.
“I think I finished strong. Obviously there’s always things you can work on. I’m happy with that.
“I could hear the crowd screaming. I was trying to channel it as if people they were cheering for me.”
