Aussie Alex de Minaur‘s campaign at Wimbledon has continued in commanding fashion, defeating Spain’s Jaume Munar in straight sets on Thursday night.
The ninth seed tied up the 6-2, 6-2, 7-5 victory in just over two hours.
Meeting for the fourth time, de Minaur extended his record over Munar to 4-0, having also ended the Spaniard’s campaign at Roland-Garros in the second round.

De Minaur started strongly to claim the opening two sets with Munar only appearing to challenge the 25-year-old a handful of times.
A slight hiccup at 5-4 in the third set saw Munar survive three match points and deuce to force another service game from de Minaur.
Munar then completed a nine-point streak to break.
Forced to wait two more games for his next chance, de Minaur did not falter — sealing the result with an ace.

“[I was] very happy to get the win today, never easy to get the win in these conditions,” de Minaur said post-match, alluding to the strong winds on court three.
“Very happy to get to the third round and very happy the sun is out in London… This is always a surface I’ve enjoyed … I look forward to it every year. I always enjoy this tournament and hopefully, I can go deep.”
De Minaur finished the match with eight aces as he showcased his powerful serve.
He said he would quickly cool down and shower before heading over to court one to watch partner Katie Boulter’s second-round match.
Having already dispatched one Aussie in the first round, de Minaur will next face the winner of compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis and Frenchman Lucas Pouille’s second-round match-up.
