NRL head of football Graham Annesley has revealed the process behind Roger Tuivasa-Sheck’s surprise sin bin on Saturday after he lifted Jayden Campbell into a dangerous position.
Tuivasa-Sheck managed to avoid suspension for his act in the 53rd minute but was fined $1,000 for the grade one dangerous throw.
The Warriors centre’s punishment brought shock around the ground at the time.

“That’s a big call … the frustration we see, particularly with the fans, is the consistency we see around that space,” league great Corey Parker said on Fox League.
Speaking at his weekly media conference on Monday, Annesley provided audio from the Bunker’s process with senior review official Kasey Badger labelling it “moderate force and moderate risk of injury”.
“He initially lands on his back but then his head hits the ground and the fact he goes all the way to the ground with him is what elevates him for me,” she said.
Referee Adam Gee was then advised to sin bin Tuivasa-Sheck.
Defending Badger’s call, Annesley explained the tackle was an example of why the NRL is trying to eradicate lifting tackles from the game.

“No one is suggesting that Roger has done anything here other than have a tackle go wrong but it demonstrates how quickly these tackles can go wrong and we all know there’s no intention in any of these tackles to hurt anybody,” he said.
“These are the type of tackles we’re trying to discourage, we don’t want players lifted and this is the reason that we don’t want them lifted because it can go wrong so incredibly quickly beyond the control of the tackler and particularly when it’s one-on-one.
“I think on reflection … I think it’s a perfectly reasonable conclusion Kasey Badger came to in having Roger sent to the sin bin and placed on report based on the level of danger involved.”
