Fresh off his win at the Australia PGA championship, Min Woo Lee has declared he wants to be Australia’s very own Tiger Woods.
The 25-year-old is ready to attack the Australian Open in Sydney with a new-found confidence after his statement win in Brisbane.
“For sure (I want to be Australia’s Tiger Woods). It would be nice. Tiger plays great golf and I would love to be the face of Australian golf. I feel like I can,” he said on Tuesday.

Min Woo’s ability to torch the ball huge distances has allowed him to flourish against his competition, paired with his carefree attitude and ability to take all the attention in his stride.
The youngster, currently ranked 38th in the world, is now focused on taking his game to the next level.
“Would love to be number one golfer in the world,” he said.
“Obviously there’s a lot of hard work that gets into it. With the goal of being a top 50 player, there was still doubt in my head, still doubt in everyone’s head. But I’m here now and hopefully I can keep going.

His sister Minjee Lee, who is currently the fifth-best female golfer in the world, also acts as a benchmark for brother Min Woo.
“We are competitive, but we’re happy for each other. Normally when I win, she wins a week after … it gives her a bit of motivation. (And) whatever she does gives me motivation,” he said.
As for his antics on the course, namely wearing a chef’s hat during his win, he says it is an ode to his catch-phrase “let him cook”.
“If people don’t know what it means, it just means let him do his thing, let him cook, he’s doing well, just keep cooking,” he said.
