Latrell Mitchell will have just one game to convince Brad Fittler he’s ready for a State of Origin return, after the Souths star was ruled out of this weekend’s match with COVID-19.
Mitchell hasn’t played since injuring his hamstring in the round five match against St George Illawarra, and had hoped to return this weekend against the Titans.
Instead, he’ll spend the week in isolation.

“Rabbitohs fullback Latrell Mitchell will be unavailable for selection in round 14 having tested positive to COVID-19 on Sunday 5 June,” the club said in a statement.
“Mitchell will not train this week as he isolates from the team.”
That leaves just the Rabbitohs’ round 15 match against the Dragons before the New South Wales team for game two is named.
Mitchell returned to Australia on Thursday, having spent two weeks in the United States as part of his rehabilitation from the hamstring injury.
