The Broncos have granted out-of-favour hooker Jake Turpin permission to negotiate with rival clubs, Brisbane has confirmed in a statement.
The 25-year-old is contracted to the Broncos until the end of 2022, but he requested to explore his options.
Turpin was the Broncos’ chief hooker in 2021 and retained the mantle for the opening six rounds of this season, but he’s since been unseated by Billy Walters.

That’s despite captaining the Broncos in three games last season.
Turpin’s request to leave comes a day after the Payne Haas saga was settled – at least temporarily.
Haas last week requested an immediate release from his contract, only to later withdraw the request and commit himself to the club.

Walters, who began his NRL career with the Storm, joined Wests Tigers and switched to the Broncos ahead of the 2021 season, has played a tidy role in the No.9 jumper throughout Brisbane’s phenomenal revival.

The Broncos collected the wooden spoon in 2020 and finished second-last in 2021, but they’ve surged into the top four after the first 12 rounds of this season.
