Jack Bird is set to honour his impending new deal with the Dragons despite reports suggesting the star was considering turning his back on the contract extension.
Bird, who joined the Dragons in 2021 following an injury-ravaged stint with the Broncos, has been tabled a two-year, $1.1 million deal to remain with the club until the end of 2024.
Nine’s rugby league reporter Michael Chammas confirmed Bird will put pen to paper on the new deal within days.

“There were reports this afternoon that Jack Bird was getting cold feet about his deal with the Dragons,” Chammas said on Nine.
“If you remember back a few weeks ago, Jack Bird agreed to a new two-year deal with the club, plus an option for a third. It was worth about $1.1 million over the first two years.
“It turns out that deal is yet to be signed.

“The Dragons, they have email correspondence with his manager accepting the deal. I spoke to Dragons CEO Ryan Webb this afternoon – he says the deal will be signed in the next 48 hours.
“Now the Tigers, they are said to be lurking in the background. I also spoke to the club and they insist they’re no longer in the race for Jack Bird. He won’t be at the Tigers next year.”
