David Warner has continued his excellent 2022 IPL season, smashing an unbeaten 92 off just 58 balls against his old team.
Warner’s last campaign ended in a bitter divorce with Sunrisers Hyderabad, as he struggled mightily after dominating the IPL for the better part of the last decade.
When the 2021 IPL season resumed last September following a break due to COVID-19, Warner, who was no longer the captain after being replaced by Kane Williamson, was dropped from the team after scores of 0 and 2 in Hyderabad’s first two games back after the hiatus.

But 2021 seems like it was just an aberration – and it’s been business as usual so far this year for the Aussie star.
Across eight innings he now has 356 runs at an average of 59.33, and a strike rate of 156.83, as his Delhi Captials sit mid-table with five wins and five losses.
Today was his finest moment so far in what has been an impressive season.
At one point early on, the Australian faced five dot balls in a row – but quickly got his eye in and ended on an unbeaten 92, with West Indian Rovman Powell joining him at the crease with the team sitting 3-85 after nine overs.
Powell contributed a whirlwind 67 off 35 and the innings ended without another wicket, on a total of 3-207.
Sunrisers managed 186 in response.
The best moment of Warner’s innings came in the penultimate over – when he played one of the best shots of his incredible career.
Warner changed his stance and prepared for a switch hit as Bhuvneshwar Kumar ran in to bowl, but the Indian responded by spearing a yorker down what would now be Warner’s ‘off’ side.
But rather than commit to his initial idea, Warner quickly changed his mind and opted for a late cut shot for a boundary instead.
“That is the cleverest shot of the day,” Harsha Bhogle said on commentary.
“Because he’s decided one thing, then quickly trotted across to do something else and done a third.
“It’s all those dance moves.”
