Beth Mooney put her hand up for the catch of the World Cup during Australia’s thumping 157-run World Cup semi-final victory against the West Indies.
In a rain-reduced semi-final, Australia showcased just why they’re the favourites to win the tournament with an imposing first innings score of 3-305 from 45 overs.
Alyssa Healy was the star, scoring 129 off just 107 balls, while Rachel Haynes made 85 off 100. The pair combined for an opening stand of 216.

The chase for the West Indies was always going to be tough, and Mooney, who contributed to Australia’s giant total with 43 not out off 31, made sure the underdogs had no chance of getting going, courtesy of a screamer at square leg.
Rashada Williams pulled a short ball from Megan Schutt, only for Mooney to dive full stretch to her right and take a stunning catch to dismiss the star opener for a duck.
“She flies to her right, plucks it out of the air, and she’s happy with herself,” said Lisa Sthalekar in commentary.
“So valuable for this Australian side with the bat and in the field.”
It was a moment that also left many flocking to social media to react.

Australia will on Sunday play the winner of South Africa and England’s clash.
England is considered the slight favourite, but all expectations are it will be a close encounter.
The South Africans defeated England by three wickets during the earlier stages of the tournament.
