It’s a devastating end to the season for one of the NRLW’s superstars, as Bo Vette-Welsh was taken from the field with a knee injury during Parramatta’s final regular season game of the year.
In their crunch game against the Broncos, Vette-Welsh went to ground at Suncorp Stadium as she ran towards a loose ball, and stayed down for treatment.
It was immediately clear that something was wrong, given the nature of non-contact injuries usually being more worrisome than those caused by collisions.

Not that there’s ever a good time for an injury but with State of Origin, another NRLW season and a World Cup to come in the next few months, one of the most exciting players in the game may now miss them all.
The Blues, Australia and Maori All Star rep has thrived since moving to the Eels, being named in the competition’s ‘Team of the Week’ multiple times so far in 2022.
“That is such a shame, she has been outstanding – she’s been one of the front-runners in this competition,” Ruan Sims said on commentary.
The club confirmed a few minutes later that the injury was serious, as Vette-Welsh sat on the sideline with crutches, and her knee heavily iced.

To add insult to injury, Parramatta needed to either lose by fewer than 15 points to secure a finals berth in their maiden season.
But any hopes of playing next week were dashed during a second-half blitz, with a late solo try to Brisbane captain Ali Brigginshaw and a bargeover from Amber Hall pushing the margin to 30, and securing the minor premiership for the Broncos.
Shenae Ciesiolka added the cherry on top in the last minute, pushing the final score to 38-4. Brisbane came into the clash needing to win by 20 points to leapfrog the Dragons.
