The NSW Waratahs have claimed their second win of the season, surviving a scoreless second half to sneak home against the Western Force, 22-17.
Force winger Manasa Mataele sliced through on the left for the opening points, before the home side scored 22 unanswered – culminating in a Will Harrison try on the siren.
Charlie Gamble had scored the opening try for the Waratahs on the back of a rolling maul, but they were unable to trouble the scorers in an error-riddled second half at Leichhardt Oval.

Lloyd Harrison’s 73rd minute try made the last few minutes somewhat intriguing, but the Force were left to settle for a losing bonus point as Ian Prior slotted a penalty goal after the siren to cut the margin from eight to five.
“Very proud of the boys effort today – we lost a few boys late in the week and the young guys really stepped up,” winning captain Jed Holloway said afterwards.
“Second half was tough, a bit disappointing to not get any points, but the boys really fronted up in (defence) and I’m really proud of that.”

The Waratahs are back in the winner’s circle after back-to-back losses to the Reds and Brumbies.
“Nothing really changed this week. DC’s [NSW coach Darren Coleman] banged on resilience all this year, and the boys showed a lot of resilience today,” Holloway said.
NSW will be back in action next week, when they host the Melbourne Rebels at the SCG.
