Brisbane have stunned South Sydney in a massive round one upset, which included a horror moment of dejavu for Cody Walker.
You have to feel for the five-eighth, who had one of the best individual seasons in recent history forgot about, his 2021 campaign relegated to one moment, one mistake, one error in judgment.
But in his first real chance to right those wrongs, somehow, inexplicably, it happened again.

This time it wasn’t Stephen Crichton streaking away to give Penrith grand final glory, but that would have been all Souths fans – and Walker – could think about as Albert Kelly raced 90 metres for the opening try of the contest.
A disjointed Souths backline, missing Blake Taaffe through injury, Latrell Mitchell through suspension and having had Dane Gagai and Adam Reynolds leave in the off-season, looked laboured and clunky in attack as they managed just one try despite being tackled 30 times inside Brisbane’s 20m line.
It was a far cry from last year, where the two clashes between the teams ended 35-6 and 46-0 in Souths’ favour.

Corey Oates extended the lead after halftime, before the game-sealer came in the most unlikely of forms.
Leading by six, Jamayne Isaako was in the pocket to potentially wrap the game up, but the pass from dummy half was absolutely terrible – forcing him to throw a desperate ball out the back to Broncos debutant, Kurt Capewell.
Nobody thought the former Panthers forward would snap a field goal shot himself, but he absolutely buried it, and 11-4 it would stay.
“One from one, I might hang the boots up when it comes to field goals,” Capewell said afterwards.
“The opportunity came and I didn’t really think about it, I just kicked it.”
The Kevolution is off to a dream start, considering they were without Reynolds, who is still recovering from COVID.
For Souths, it only gets tougher from here. They’ll face Melbourne, Sydney, and Penrith in their next three games.
