In 16 years of international cricket, Shane Warne had a knack of making the unbelievable happen.
Today, in a midweek maiden at Ipswich, the horse the late great cricketer part-owned delivered an outcome no one could have predicted.
Sentimental punters had backed three-year-old colt Sacred Oath into heavy favouritism in just its second start.

But, running from the inside barrier, just 100 metres into the 1500m race, disaster struck, as Sacred Oath was cut off and forced into a collision with the barrier, sending jockey Ryan Maloney flying.
Maloney and the horse are both reported to be ok. The hoop suffered a minor head knock, and was monitored my paramedics at the venue.
Connections of the horse, although relieved no serious harm was caused, were devastated by the result.
Trainer David Vandyke was overcome with emotion when trying to speak after the race.
Syndicate manager Jarred Magnabosco told Wide World of Sports he couldn’t believe what had happened.
