Australian moguls skier Cooper Woods fell just short of a podium finish after reaching the final six medal round at the Beijing Winter Olympics.
The 21-year-old debutant notched his highest score of the night with 78.88, but it wasn’t enough as he fell short, ending in sixth spot.
Swede Walter Wallberg claimed gold with a score of 83.23, while defending Olympic champion Mikael Kingsbury won silver with 82.18.

Ikuma Horishima of Japan earned bronze notching 81.48.
“What a day, what a night actually,” Woods said after his run. “I’ve just been working towards this for my entire life, my entire ski career.
“So to stand up there in the super final, it was just a star-struck moment.
“I’m a little bit lost for words, in all honest truth. It’s been a great night.”
Earlier, fellow Australian Matt Graham fought back tears after he failed to make it to the medal round, tapping out during the qualification for the men’s moguls.
The 2018 Olympic silver medallist posted a score of 65.13 during qualifying two, but it wasn’t enough to advance to the finals.
“I’ve put in so much work,” he said after the event.
“It wasn’t the best lead-up, but I knew with my entry and how I was skiing here – I had a lot to give tonight.
“Obviously not doing well a couple of nights ago put pressure on me tonight, but I felt I handled it well.
“I missed the take-off on the top jump and landed to the left, it’s tough conditions out here and quite windy, and I felt like a had a bit of a tailwind which accelerates you.
“I don’t know what to say… I wish I could’ve done better than this.”
In other results at the men’s moguls, another Australian Brodie Summers came close to pulling off something special.
Summer was part of the 20-man final before eventually finishing in 10th place.
