Tonight’s A-League Men’s match between the Central Coast Mariners and Wellington Phoenix has been postponed.
The announcement was made after the Central Coast Mariners confirmed several players had tested positive to COVID-19, forcing them into isolation.
As a part of protocols in New South Wales, all A-Leagues players and coaching staff undergo daily testing processes.

“All players and staff have recently undergone PCR testing, however still await the result of those tests,” the Central Coast Mariners said in a statement.
“As per the government restrictions, these players and staff are labelled as close contacts and must self-isolate until a negative result is received from those PCR tests.
“The safety of our players, officials and spectators is our primary concern and we are working closely with A-Leagues and NSW Health to enact league protocol and to limit any potential spread of the virus.”
The scheduled A-League Women’s match will still go ahead, however play will occur behind closed doors in the interest of safety.
A decision around the Mariners’ New Year’s Eve fixture with Macarthur FC will be made in due course.
