Brazilian Olympic diver Ian Matos has died following health battles spawning from a lung infection, at the age of just 32.
According to The Sun, Matos had been in hospital in Rio for almost two months before his condition worsened on Wednesday.
He initially sought medical attention earlier this year because of a throat infection which later spread to his stomach and lungs.

Matos competed in the men’s synchronised three-meter springboard at his home Olympics in 2016 and won three bronze medals at the 2010 South American Games.
In a statement, Brazil’s Olympic Committee paid their respects to Matos, highlighting his contribution to diving as an openly gay athlete.
“We are profoundly saddened to have received the news of the premature death of the Olympic diver Ian Matos, aged just 32,” the statement said.
“Team Brazil acknowledges his contribution to the evolution of the discipline.
“Our sincere condolences to his family and friends.”
