Australian batsman David Warner is still off the field and it’s been confirmed that he has “severely bruised ribs” courtesy of a body blow from Ben Stokes yesterday.
According to Fox Cricket’s Kath Loughnan, Warner had scans overnight that cleared him of a fracture, but the 35-year-old remains in “severe discomfort.”
Warner’s former teammate Michael Hussey, who had a similar injury in his playing days, has described what the left-hander would be feeling.

“It’s very painful. It hurts to cough, sneeze, laugh, and can take a long time to heal as well,” Hussey said on Fox Cricket’s coverage.
“If it gets you in the wrong spot it can be quite debilitating.
“It’ll be interesting to see how David Warner pulls up from that blow to the ribs.”
Warner rode his luck to score 94 in Australia’s first innings at The Gabba.
