Adelaide Strikers star Dane van Niekerk pulled off a slick run-out to send Perth Scorchers captain Sophie Devine back to the pavilion in the Women’s Big Bash League final.
Batting first, the Scorchers had taken control of the game through a strong opening partnership between Devine and Beth Mooney, before Devine and Chloe Piparo lifted the score to 2-67.
But van Niekerk then produced a critical play for the Strikers when she swooped on an attempted single at short fine leg and executed a direct hit, catching Devine just short of the crease in the 11th over.

“Massive,” wrote Australian sports broadcaster Quentin Hull on Twitter.
“Again the Strikers’ fielding claims a huge moment. Devine run out with direct hit from van Niekerk.”
The Scorchers posted 5-146 in the Perth decider, before van Niekerk and Katie Mack opened the batting in the Strikers’ chase.
MORE TO COME.
