The NRL’s newest club, the Dolphins, have missed out yet another signing target with news Patrick Carrigan has recommitted to the Broncos.
Brisbane announced a contract extension for the classy middle forward which ties him to Red Hill until the end of 2024.
The Dolphins had their eye on Carrigan and he is viewed as a potential future NRL captain, such is his standing at Brisbane.

The Dolphins have also missed out on Reed Mahoney and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui in recent days, who they were keen on signing ahead of their debut NRL season in 2023.
Melbourne superstar Brandon Smith has narrowed down his choice from a number of suitors with the Roosters or Dolphins now the clear favourites to lure him on a deal for 2023.
So far the Dolphins have signed only one player – young uncapped hooker Harrison Graham, who is currently on a train-and-trial deal with Brisbane.
Question marks have been raised from outside the club about their recruiting strategy and inability to land that first big signing.
Carrigan, 23, is considered alongside Adam Reynolds as a Broncos captaincy candidate for 2022.
