A racing driver was lucky to escape with only a punctured lung and broken ribs when his car speared head-first into a wall in what was a frightening incident in Macau over the weekend.
Chinese driver Ya Qi Zhang missed a turn and ploughed into the barrier during warm-up of the Sands China Macau GT Cup, causing the session to be red-flagged and the race program delayed.
Video shows the Audi R8 LMS completely missing the turn, smashing into the wall and exploding, before spinning multiple times on the track and coming to a rest with parts strewn across the bitumen.
