New Bronco Adam Reynolds admits he “certainly won’t be watching” his unsuccessful conversion attempt in South Sydney’s 14-12 grand final loss to Penrith again.
The former Rabbitoh has spoken for the first time about the huge moment.
Considered arguably the best goal kicker in the game, Reynolds had the chance to level the scores from the sideline with five minutes remaining after winger Alex Johnston crossed in the corner.
The playmaker pushed his attempt just wide of the right upright. The curve on his kick initially looked like it would take the ball inside the post before it straightened at the crucial moment.
It’s a moment Reynolds now says he never wants to revisit.
“I’ve only watched the replay once,” Reynolds told the Sydney Morning Herald.
“I waited until all the celebrations and our presentation was over. I wanted to watch it back and see exactly how close it was.
“I didn’t try to over-kick it. I put the ball where I wanted it. It’s just a moment I wish I could have back over, so I could take the kick again.

“I used to love grand final day because of the memories with 2014 and Souths.
“Now there will be mixed feelings. No doubt there will be replays of that kick played in future years. I certainly won’t be watching.”
With one minute remaining, Reynolds was forced to attempt a desperate 40-metre two-point field goal but that attempt fell well short.
Despite Reynolds’ missed attempt from the sideline, rugby league great Peter Sterling believes he is still the man any team should want “in a clutch situation”.
The kick from Adam Reynolds, very, very difficult,” he told Wide World of Sports’ Sterlo’s Wrap.
“He is still the person I want in a clutch situation, regardless of this.
“When it left the boot, I thought ‘yep he’s got it.'”
