The Tigers want to keep him – but Luke Brooks‘ move to Newcastle is all but a done deal.
The Knights have been searching for an experienced replacement for Super League bound Mitchell Pearce and seem certain to have come up with their man in 26-year-old Brooks.
Brooks has been with the Tigers since 2013 but has yet to steer the club to a finals series.
But club officials still see the 2018 Dally M halfback of the year as one of the NRL’s leading number sevens and both coach Michael Maguire and incoming football manager Tim Sheens wanted Brooks to stay on board for the final two years of his contract.

But sources have told Wide World of Sports that Brooks is ready for a change of scenery.
The lure of playing alongside boom youngster Kayln Ponga is also believed to have been an attraction for Brooks.
Brooks shares the same management as Newcastle coach Adam O’Brien, another major factor in the likely move.
Pearce is off to French club Catalans next season, ending a mixed stint with the Knights.
