Jake Paul’s quest to prove himself in the boxing world will see the YouTube performer take on British boxer Tommy Fury at the end of the year.
Paul will fight Fury, the half-brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, on December 19 (AEDT) in Tampa, Florida. The bout will be for 8×3 minute rounds and contested at 192 pounds (87kg).
Paul (4-0) will take on Fury, 22, who is 7-0 and as a pro boxer. He is considered a celebrity in the UK following his appearance on the reality show “Love Island.
Amid talks of a fight over the last couple of months, Paul proposed a wager to Fury off the back of Tyson Fury’s comments last month.
The WBC champ joked that if his brother lost to Paul he would change his name. Paul then suggested Tommy Fury change his name temporarily to “Tommy Fumbles”.
Tommy Fury agreed to the name-change wager, according to ESPN.
“I offered Fury to change his name to Tommy Fumbles or put up $500,000 of his purse if he loses,” Paul said.

“He chose to agree to change his name. Guess he puts more value on money then he does his own family name. Maybe he knows his family is disowning him once he loses, so money and [Tommy’s girlfriend and UK TV personality] Molly [Mae-Hague] is all he’s going to have left.”
This bout will be Paul’s third fight this year with his last match-up a split decision win over former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley in late August.
Fury defeated Anthony Taylor, a sparring partner of Paul’s, by unanimous decision on Paul vs Woodley undercard and has won four of his 7 fights by knockout. Although, all his fights to date have been four-round fixtures.
