The Sydney Roosters have announced former stars Brett Morris and Jason Ryles will join the club’s coaching staff as assistants for season 2022.
Morris today inked a two-year deal, while Ryles put pen to paper on a three-year contract.
The 35-year-old Morris retired from the NRL this season after an ACL injury cruelly ended his year in Round 8.
A former Kangaroo and NSW Blues star, Morris played a total of 276 NRL games. He finished his career with the Roosters where he was part of the Tricolours’ premiership triumph over the Raiders in 2019.

“Brett played more than 300 NRL and representative games and he has an astute mind with a genuine care for making the players around him better,” Roosters coach Trent Robinson said.
“I’ve been fortunate to be able to observe Brett’s keen eye in video sessions and out on the field both at training and in games over the last three years and I’m looking forward to him applying his knowledge and contributing to our development at the Sydney Roosters in 2022.”

Meanwhile, Ryles also enjoyed a stellar NRL career which included representative duties for NSW and Australia.
The 42-year-old played 249 NRL games, 46 of those with the Roosters in seasons 2010 and 2011.
Ryles has also held coaching roles with England’s national rugby union team, having previously worked under Craig Bellamy at Melbourne.
“Jason is a diverse thinker with a highly impressive football nous which he has harnessed over the last two decades as an elite player and coach,” Robinson said.
“Jason is also a strong relationship builder with huge integrity. I have no doubt that he will contribute significantly to our quest to be better every day and I am looking forward to working with him.”
