Teen star Josh Giddey has only played four NBA pre-season games, but basketball fans are already losing their minds over the Australian’s stellar start to his career with Oklahoma City.
Giddey, who previously played in the NBL with the Adelaide 36ers, is less than one week away from kick-starting his tenure with the Thunder when the NBA regular season begins on October 20.
The 19-year-old Australian was selected by Oklahoma City in the first round during this year’s NBA Draft, with pick number six.
While fans in Australia saw him shine with the 36ers, where he was crowned NBL Rookie of the Year in 2020, it’s USA basketball fans who are getting their first look at the 203-centimetre point guard’s potential.
Giddey has so far shot better than 50 per cent from the field and averaged 13.5 points, seven rebounds and five assists per game.

With Oklahoma City finishing their pre-season campaign today, Giddey’s display has dominated much of the franchise’s discussion as they look to bounce back from finishing second-last in the NBA’s western conference last season.
