Young A-League talent Izaack Powell has revealed he’s been fighting leukemia since June.
The 19-year-old Brisbane Roar defender shared the news on his Instagram page on Monday.
“It’s been a challenging few months being told I had leukemia back in June, but I’ve been quite fortunate with how everything has gone since then,” the teenager wrote.
“I wanna say a big thank you to my family, friends and my girlfriend who have supported me so far and I can’t wait to finish my treatment and return back to normality in the coming months.”

He was 16 years and 361 days old when he made his top-flight debut in 2019 against Sydney FC.
He played every game for Australia at the under 17s World Cup in Brazil in 2019.
