It might have been an unsatisfying end for the Manly Sea Eagles’ season, but Tom Trbojevic still had time to break one more record before the season ended.
Trbojevic’s late consolation try broke the record for most tries in a season by a Manly Sea Eagles player, set by Phil Blake in 1983.
He also pulled level with Alex Johnston for the 2021 top tryscorer, before the Bunnies winger crossed in the final moments.
“That is the record for most tries in a season for a Manly player,” Mat Thompson said as Trbojevic crossed the stripe.

“Just goes over and breaks the record, what a freakish player,” said Andrew Johns.
Paul Vautin said that the game vindicated his opinion that when all was said and done, the fullback would go down as the greatest ever player to pull on the maroon jersey.

“I’ve actually been saying it for about three or four years – people will go ‘what about this bloke and that bloke and Bozo [Bob Fulton] and Graham Eadie’ but I’m talking at the end of his career, which might be in six or seven years time, I think he will have surpassed everyone,” Vautin said.
“He’s halfway there now.”
