The NRL team lists for the final round of the home and away season are in, and if you’re a Cronulla Sharks fan, you couldn’t be happier.
After last week’s win over the Broncos, all Cronulla need to do this weekend is beat the Melbourne Storm and eighth spot and a place in the finals will be locked up.
With the Storm already guaranteed a top-two spot, coach Craig Bellamy has opted to rest a host of big names including Maroons star Cameron Munster, Christian Welch, Felise Kaufusi and Kenny Bromwich.
Melbourne will also be without Jesse Bromwich (suspension) and Josh Addo-Carr due to a hamstring injury.
While it’s good news for the Sharks, the Raiders, who are banking on Cronulla to lose in order to squeeze into the top eight, have opted to start Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad at fullback for the first time since his return from a long-term injury.
Nicoll-Klokstad was coming off the interchange in recent weeks following neck surgery, but he has been thrown into the starting side for Thursday night’s must-win match against the Roosters. Jordan Rapana has been switched back to the wing, taking over for the injured Bailey Simonsson.
The Raiders will face a mighty task when they come up against a Roosters side welcoming back a host of key players, including NSW Origin back-rower Angus Crichton, retiring star Josh Morris, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Adam Keighran.
The downside for the Roosters is they will be without star outside back Joey Manu, who was ruled out for the season due to a cheekbone injury suffered in the high tackle that also ended Latrell Mitchell’s season.
