The GWS Giants have conquered the West Coast Fever in their preliminary final clash to set the stage for a NSW derby grand final.
The Giants downed the Fever 64-61 at University of Sunshine Coast Stadium this afternoon.
The result has set up a decider between the Giants and NSW Swifts at Queensland State Netball Centre next Saturday.
Jo Harten (36 goals) and Sophie Dwyer (22) led the way for GWS in attack in the preliminary final, as Maddie Hay collected 41 feeds and Jamie-Lee Price 31 feeds.
Among the Fever’s best was Jhaniele Fowler (37 goals), as well as Emma Cosh (26 feeds), Verity Charles (25) and Alice Teague-Neeld (19).
But the Fever stars didn’t do enough to secure back-to-back grand final appearances.
It means Stacey Marinkovich has finished her time as Fever coach with two grand final appearances but no premierships.
Australian netball legend Liz Ellis congratulated the Giants on their win.
“Brilliant win from the Giants,” Ellis posted on Twitter.
“Controlled possession when it counted. It an all-NSW Super Netball grand final, baby!”
